Eku Energy has submitted its 100 MW/1 GWh Griffith BESS for environmental assessment under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act. The facility will be located in Yoogali, New South Wales (Australia), and co-located alongside the proposed 15 MW Yoogali solar PV plant.
The project will connect to the National Electricity Market (NEM) via 132 kV underground transmission cabling running to Transgrid’s Griffith Substation, with a new switch bay to be installed at the substation to accommodate the connection. The project aims to offer flexibility and maintain system strength in the NEM, particularly as coal fired power plants are progressively phased out.
