INA has completed a EUR700m modernisation of its Rijeka Refinery in Croatia (MOL, 10/03/2025). The upgrades include a new delayed coking unit that boosts crude processing to 4 Mt/year, eliminates vacuum gas oil (VGO) imports (mostly Russian), and increases diesel output by 30% to meet peak tourist demand.
INA is owned by the Croatian Government (44.8%) and the Hungarian state-owned oil company MOL (49.1%). Oil product production rebounded by 11% to 2.4 Mt in 2024, after an 11%/year fall between 2018 and 2023.
