Chinese company SETS has announced its intention to develop a 500 MW solar power plant in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan (Khovar, 31/03/2026). According to Khovar, the project was presented by representatives of SETS to the Khatlon Regional Chairman to review the proposal and related cooperation issues between authorities and the company. The project is expected to “help address electricity supply challenges, support the development of renewable energy sources and contribute to environmental protection.”
At the end of 2024, Tajikistan had a total installed capacity of 6.6 GW, of which solar represented only 220 KW.
