Development of two quantified scenarios for the World Energy Council
The World Energy Council (WEC) is a century-old independent community of energy leaders and experts. The WEC organises the World Energy Congress gathering several hundreds of executives, ministers, and over 7,000 international energy stakeholders. This event aims to facilitate insightful discussions by presenting thought-provoking prospective energy scenarios.
Enerdata has showcased two scenarios, titled ‘Rocks’ and ‘Rivers’, collaboratively developed with E.ON for the WEC.
Our expert Jacques Despres presented the underlying hypothesis and the consequential results of both scenarios, and gain valuable insights into the future landscape of energy and sustainability.
We were glad to collaborate with WELTENERGIERAT and the World Energy Council, and extend our gratitude for their collaborative support to this event.

During this congress, Enerdata, collaboratively with ADEME, held a roundtable aiming at discoursing about the number one challenge that we face now: the transition to a decarbonised world.
Indeed, policies and regulations are created primarily to develop green solutions and accelerate decarbonisation. However, can we rely on them solely? The true impact of these initiatives will only be achieved if we also reduce consumption. Energy efficiency and energy sufficiency are both imperative to tackle the energy consumption trend.
Topics covered:
- Current patterns and implications of energy consumption
- potential outcomes of energy efficiency and sufficiency policies and initiatives via diverse experience
