YPF Luz starts construction works of 305 MW solar park in Argentina

The Argentinian energy group YPF Luz has begun construction works on its 305 MW El Quemado I solar park located in Las Heras, Argentina. Building the first phase of the project (200 MW), which will be connected to a new 220 kV substation on the Cruz de Piedra-San Juan line, is estimated to last 18 months and the 200 MW phase should start commercial operations in the first half of 2026. YPF Luz is also preparing for the second stage of the project (105 MW), which should complete the 305 MW total capacity of the power plant. The project has an estimated total investment of US$230m.

The El Quemado I project will allow YPF Luz to reach 915 MW of installed renewable capacity. Currently, the company has 497 MW in operation and 418 MW under construction, which correspond to the new 200 MW project, the 155 MW General Levalle wind park in the province of Córdoba, and the 63 MW Casa wind park, located in Olavarría, province of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
