Xuan Cau Holdings has started construction of a 450 MW solar power plant in Tay Ninh province in southern Vietnam. The VND7.77tn (USD300m) project is expected to generate around 808 GWh/year and to enter operation in December 2027 (Vietnamese government press release, 05/08/2026).
The project is Xuan Cau Holdings' third solar power plant in Tay Ninh and its fifth renewable energy project in Vietnam. Once commissioned, the facility will contribute to the country's efforts to expand renewable energy generation and meet rising electricity demand.
The development aligns with Vietnam's revised National Power Development Plan, adopted in April 2025, which targets a renewable energy share of 28-36% of the power mix by 2030 (and about 75% by 2050), excluding hydropower. Under the plan, peak electricity demand is expected to reach approximately 85.7 GW by 2030 and between 202 GW-228 GW by 2050.
Vietnam also plans to expand onshore wind capacity to 26 GW by 2030 and to reach 6-17 GW of offshore wind capacity to support domestic electricity demand and long-term decarbonisation objectives (Vietnam Government Portal, 05/08/2026).
As of 2025, Vietnam had a total installed capacity of 90.6 GW, with a solar capacity of 19.2 GW (Enerdata’s Global Energy Research).
