According to the World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO), the world added 15.7 GW of offshore wind capacity in 2021 and the global installed offshore wind capacity reached 48.2 GW at the end of the year 2021. China is now the world's largest offshore wind market with 19.7 GW (40% of the global offshore wind capacity), compared to 12.3 GW in the United Kingdom and 7.7 GW in Germany. In 2021 China installed 12.7 GW of offshore wind capacity, due to the expiration of the country's feed-in tariff by the end of the year. In addition, the country had 8 GW of new offshore wind capacity under construction at the end of 2021, compared to 3 GW under construction in the United Kingdom, 2.5 GW in Taiwan, 2.2 GW in the Netherlands and 976 MW in France.
