Woodside (Australia) achieves record production of 193.9 Mboe during 2024

The Australian energy company Woodside has released its 2024 Results Briefing, reporting a record production of 193.9 Mboe, or 530 kboe/d during 2024 (+3.6% year-on-year). Woodside’s share of production from international operations was 54.4 Mboe (149 kboe/day) in 2024. Part of these outstanding results are attributed to the early production of the Sangomar field offshore Senegal with a 100 kb/d capacity in its first development phase, of which Woodside’s share of production was of 13.3 Mboe in 2024. In Australia, the onshore Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) processed 11.8 Mboe of gas from the Pluto LNG through the Pluto-KGP Interconnector (+5.6% compared to 2023). The company had progress on its Scarborough gas field in Western Australia (Australia), which is 78% complete and expects to send its first LNG cargo in 2026, and the Trion oil development in the Mexican Gulf (Mexico), which is more than 20% complete and targets for first oil in 2028.

In 2024, Woodside acquired the Louisiana LNG (known before as the Driftwood LNG) in Louisiana (United States) and Beaumont New Ammonia (Texas, US) and sold a 15.1% non-operating interest in the Scarborough Joint Venture (Australia) to JERA (15.1%) and LNG Japan (10%). The company also had an asset swap with Chevron, exchanging its interest in both the Wheatstone (13%) and Julimar-Brunello Projects (65%) for Chevron’s interest in the NWS Project (17%) and the Angel CCS Project (20%). Another important milestone during the past year was the signing of long-term LNG sales and purchase agreements (SPAs) with KOGAS (0.5 Mt/year over a 10.5-year period), CPC (6 Mt over a 10-year period) and JERA (0.4 Mt/year over a 10-year period) for the long-term supply of LNG to Korea, Taiwan and Japan respectively, and the reception of the Woodside Scarlet Ibis (a 174,000 m3 long-term charter LNG vessel).
