Wind capacity reaches 8.2 GW in France in 2013 (4.7 GW for PV)

According to quarterly statistics released by the French Ministry of Sustainable Development, installed wind capacity in France reached 8,163 MW in 2013 (1,196 installations), i.e. a growth of 535 MW during the year. New installations are significantly lower than in 2012 (815 MW). Wind power generation totalled 15.2 TWh in 2013, a 6% increase compared to 2012.

Where solar PV is concerned, 613 MW were added in 2013, raising the total capacity from 4,060 MW to 4,673 MW; this is 45% less than new installations in 2012 (1,115 MW). Solar PV generation increased by 16% in 2013 to 4.3 TWh.

At year end 2013, 506 onshore wind parks (5,862 MW) and 11 offshore wind parks (4,153 MW) were awaiting to be connected to the grid (power plants having submitted an application for a connection to the distribution network of having signed a financial and technical proposition for those connected to the transport network). More than 35,000 PV installations (2,772 MW) were awaiting to be connected to the grid, including 737 MW having already signed a connection agreement.
