Wärtsilä will extend regasification capacity at Croatia’s Krk LNG terminal

The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has secured a contract with LNG Croatia to extend by 2.2 bcm/year the regasification capacity of the Krk LNG terminal, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) located in northern Croatia. Wärtsilä will extend the capacity of the FSRU to over 5 bcm/year, thanks to a new regasification module that will supplement the vessel’s existing onboard Wärtsilä regasification system. In addition to the new regasification train, Wärtsilä will supply the engineering for the capacity conversion; the plant will be installed during the summer of 2025.

The Krk LNG terminal originally had a regasification capacity of 2.6 bcm/year, which was increased to 2.9 bcm/year in 2022 following the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The FSRU is the sole regasification terminal in Croatia.
