Chinese hydropower group China Three Gorges Power Corporation (CTGPC) has selected Voith to supply six hydropower turbine generator units and auxiliary parts with a total installed capacity of 5,100 MW for its 10,200 MW Wudongde hydropower project in southern China. The contract is estimated at €365m. Wudongde is located on the Jinsha River, in the region of Huidong County, Sichuan Province and Luquan County, Yunnan Province. The Chinese government approved the construction of the Wudongde project in December 2015 with commissioning planned in 2020. When completed, the hydropower plant will have an estimated generating capacity of 38.9 TWh/year and should save 30.5 MtCO2/year.
In January 2016, CTGPC selected GE Renewable Energy to supply half of the capacity of its future Wudongde hydropower project in central China. GE will supply six Francis turbines of 850 MW each (total capacity of 5,100 MW) and related equipment for the project.
