Vestas will supply turbines for two wind projects (1.3 GW) in Brazil

The Danish turbine manufacturer Vestas has signed a turbine agreement with the Brazilian energy company Casa dos Ventos for two onshore wind projects in Brazil totalling 1.3 GW. The order includes the supply, installation, operation and maintenance of 168 V150-4.5MW turbines for the 756 MW Serra do Tigre project in the state of Rio Grande and 123 V150-4.5MW units for the 554 MW Babilônia Centro project in the state of Bahia. The delivery of the Serra do Tigre and Babilônia Centro is estimated to begin in the third quarter of 2024 and the commissioning is expected to start in the first quarter of 2025. Vestas will also deliver a 25-year Active Output Management service agreement.

In October 2022, Vestas also signed an agreement with France’s Engie to supply 120 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines for first phase of the 846 MW Serra do Assuruá onshore wind project, located in the state of Bahia.

As of the end of 2021, wind represented 11% of Brazil’s installed capacity with 20.8 GW (100% onshore) and 11% of its power generation with 72.3 TWh.
