Vestas will supply turbines to Engie's 846 MW wind project in Bahia (Brazil)

The Danish turbine manufacturer Vestas has reached an agreement with French utility Engie to supply turbines for the 846 MW Serra do Assuruá onshore wind project, located in Gentio de Ouro, State of Bahia, eastern Brazil. The agreement includes the initial supply, installation, operation and maintenance of 120 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines for the 540 MW first phase of the Serra de Assuruá project.

The contract also includes the option for Engie, the project’s operator, to purchase another 68 wind turbines by the end of 2022 for phase two of the wind farm. Vestas will also deliver a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

At end-2021, Brazil possessed 20.8 GW of onshore wind capacity (11% of the country’s total capacity). Nearly 8 GW of wind projects are currently under construction in Brazil, and more than 60 GW are under development.

Vestas was also recently selected as supplier for a 74 MW wind project in Lithuania, a 74 MW project in Finland, a 50 MW project in Japan, a 1.1 GW in the UK and a 1.2 GW project in Poland.
