Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Shell and EDF Renewables, has selected Vestas as the preferred supplier for the 1.5 GW Atlantic Shores offshore wind project, located in the US state of New Jersey near Atlantic City.
Vestas will provide 100 V236-15.0 MW units, with installation planned in 2027. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) awarded the contract to develop the Atlantic Shores project in July 2021.
In late September 2022, the state of New Jersey set a target to attain 11 GW of offshore wind by 2040, which will contribute to the United States national target of reaching 30 GW of overall offshore wind by 2030 and 15 GW of floating offshore wind by 2035.
