Vestas will supply 1.1 GW of wind turbines for the Baltic Power project (Poland)

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has been selected to supply 1,140 MW of turbines for the Baltic Power offshore wind project located off Łeba, in northern Poland. Vestas was chosen by the developer of the project Baltic Power, a joint venture between Poland’s Orlen and Canada’s Northland Power.

Vestas will supply, install and commission 76 V236-15.0MW wind turbines for the project. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in early 2025, while commissioning is expected in 2026. Vestas will service the turbines under a 15-year agreement once the commissioning is completed.

Earlier in September 2023, Orlen and Northland Power secured financing for the Baltic Power project, following the signing of agreements with a syndicate comprising 25 Polish and international financial institutions. In June 2021, the project was awarded by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (URE) with a 25-year Contract for Difference (CfD) to PKN Orlen (51%) and Northland Power (49%).
