Venture Global and Tokyo Gas have announced the execution of a long-term LNG Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA). Under the SPA, Tokyo Gas will procure 1 Mt/year of LNG from Venture Global for 20 years, starting in 2030. This deal brings the total SPAs signed by Venture Global in the past six months to nearly 8 Mt/year (Venture Global press release, 26/11/2025).
- This agreement follows another SPA signed in early November 2025 with Japan’s Mitsui & Co for the sale of 1 Mt/year of LNG from Venture Global over 20 years, starting in 2029 (KEI, 14/11/2025).
- The United States remains the world's largest exporter of LNG, while Japan is the second-largest LNG importer globally, after China.
In November 2025, the company submitted its application to the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for its Plaquemines LNG brownfield expansion project in Louisiana, USA. The expansion will add 30 Mt/year to its facility, which already has a peak capacity of nearly 28 Mt/year (KEI, 21/11/2025).
Venture Global is a U.S.-based producer and exporter of LNG, with over 100 Mt/year of capacity currently in production, construction, or development.
