Venture Global signs SPA to supply 2.25 Mt/year of US LNG to Germany’s SEFE

The US company Venture Global LNG has signed a 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) to provide Germany’s Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) with 2.25 Mt/year of LNG from the CP2 LNG project located in Cameron Parish, in the US State of Louisiana. With this deal, Venture Global would become Germany’s largest LNG supplier, with a combined 4.25 Mt/year of LNG.

In February and May 2023, Venture Global also signed 20-year SPAs for 1 Mt/year with China Gas Holdings and Japan’s JERA respectively. So far, Venture Global has sold 9.25 Mt/year of CP2 LNG's nameplate capacity of 20 Mt/year.

The construction of the CP2 LNG project is set to begin in 2023. The terminal, which should enter full operation in 2026, is expected to have a capacity of 20 Mt/year of LNG and a peak capacity of approximately 24 Mt/year.
