Venture Global has reached first LNG production at its second LNG plant, Plaquemines LNG, located in Port Sulphur, Louisiana (United States). The liquefaction facility has a 20 Mt/year nameplate capacity and it became one of the fastest greenfield projects to reach first production, along with Venture Global's first facility Calcasieu Pass. Plaquemines LNG reached an FID on its first phase in May 2022, and on phase two in March 2023. The Plaquemines LNG plant is expected to produce and export LNG, while construction and commissioning continues for the remainder of the project's 36 trains and associated facilities.
Venture Global is a US LNG provider, sourced from resource rich North American natural gas basins. As of end-2023, the United States had an LNG liquefaction capacity standing at nearly 80 Mt/year, and a regasification capacity exceeding 130 Mt/year.
