Venture Global announces official start of 10 Mt/year Calcasieu Pass LNG (US)

Venture Global has notified its long-term customers that its 10 Mt/year Calcasieu Pass liquefaction terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States) will commence commercial operations on 15 April 2025. The LNG plant will achieve its commercial operation date, or COD, in under 68 months from its August 2019 final investment decision (FID), despite substantial impacts including two hurricanes, the COVID-19 pandemic, and major unforeseen manufacturing issues. The LNG terminal comprises nine trains of 1.2 Mt/year each for a total capacity of 10 Mt/year, along with a 720 MW gas-fired power plant. Several supply and purchase agreement (SPAs) for the project have already been signed with Shell, Edison, Galp Energia, BP, Repsol, PGNiG, Sinopec and CNOOC. The company is facing contract arbitration case regarding the commencement of its contracts from Calcasieu Pass, which started producing LNG in early 2022.
