Wison Engineering has been awarded a procurement and construction contract by PDVSA for the site preparation for the Puerto la Cruz oil refinery Deep Conversion Project in Venezuela. This is the largest oil refinery project in Latin America acquired by Chinese enterprise to date. The total contract value amounts to approximately US$834m. The project is expected to be completed in 12 months after commencement of work.
The Puerto la Cruz oil refinery Deep Conversion Project aims to maximize the processing capacity of the Orinoco heavy oil refinery in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela through HDH Plus technology, increasing fuel production to meet domestic demand and export, framed in the Oil Sowing Plan.
The project aims to raise the refinery capacity from 195,000 bbl/d to 210,000 bbl/d distributed in 170,000 bbl/d of crude Merey 16°API and 40,000 bbl/d of Santa Barbara 40°API. The total investment is estimated at US$5.163m.
