Vattenfall will proceed with 350 MW Danish near shore wind projects

Swedish power company Vattenfall will proceed with plans to develop Danish Near Shore (DNS) wind projects, after the projects approval by the Danish Parliament (Folketing).

In September 2016, the group won the Danish Near Shore Wind tender to build two offshore wind parks with a total capacity of 350 MW. The company submitted the lowest bid (DKK 0.475/kWh, €64/MWh) for the two sites Vesterhav Syd (180 MW) and Vesterhav Nord (170 MW). Vattenfall will now start the procurement process for the main components and services (wind turbines, foundations and cables as well as agreements with installation ships) so that the construction phase can start as planned in 2019. The first power will be supplied in 2020.

The DNS projects aroused a fierce debate due to their proximity to the shore and due to the bid price (wholesale power price was about half of Vattenfall's bid price in September 2016).
