Vattenfall takes FID for two offshore wind projects (344 MW) in Denmark

Vattenfall has taken the final investment decision (FID) for the Vesterhav Syd and Vesterhav Nord offshore wind projects totalling 344 MW in the Danish North Sea. The wind projects will consist of 20 and 21 turbines respectively with a capacity of 8.4 MW each. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2023 at the latest.

In September 2016, Vattenfall won the Danish Near Shore Wind tender to build two offshore wind parks with a total capacity of 350 MW. The company had submitted the lowest bid (DKK 0.48/kWh, €6.4c/kWh) for the two sites Vesterhav Syd (180 MW) and Vesterhav Nord (170 MW). The projects were approved by the Danish Parliament in November 2016, and complied with legislation with regards the environment, nature and consideration for neighbours. The €769m projects received construction permits from the Danish Energy Agency in December 2020.
