Vattenfall secures permit for a 640 MW offshore wind project in Sweden

Vattenfall has obtained a construction permit from the Swedish government for 640 MW offshore wind project at Swedish Kriegers Flak. The project, located 30 km south of Trelleborg in the Baltic sea, will include 40 to 50 wind turbines with a maximum height of 280 meters with an expected power generation of 2.6 TWh/year.  The company, which targets an investment decision in 2025, still needs to secure all necessary projects and the electricity grid connection on land for the project. The project could be commissioned as of 2028.

On the Danish side of Kriegers Flak, Vattenfall officially inaugurated its 604 MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind plant in the Danish Baltic Sea in September 2021, whose construction had started in May 2020. The project  entails 72 turbines rated 8.4 MW each. Vattenfall won the tender to build the project in 2016 with a price of DKK 0.372/kWh (€49.9c/kWh).
