Uzbekistan has launched 42 renewable, storage, and grid projects with a value of about US$11bn (UZA, 05/12/2025). Among the projects there were 16 new solar, wind, thermal, and hydroelectric power plants commissioned with a combined capacity of 3.5 GW and an estimated investment of US$3.3bn financed with a mix of public and private investment. The projects are distributed across the country, particularly in the Karakalpakstan, and Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Tashkent regions. Once operational, the projects are expected to generate about 15 TWh/year. Additionally, 10 utility-scale BESS with a combined capacity of 1,245 MW have also been launched, which should enable the delivery of an additional 1.5 TWh of electricity during peak hours. Moreover, 11 major substations and 420 km of high-voltage transmission lines are being commissioned.
The announcement is aligned with the country’s goal to install over 17 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
