The US$1bn Jebel Ali refinery expansion project is moving forward (UAE)

The Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has awarded the last of the three contracts for the US$1bn Jebel Ali refinery expansion project to the Dubai-based company Overseas-AST. The company will be in charge of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and will build several interconnection pipelines between the refinery processing units, berth facilities and storage tanks within the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). The pipelines will carry refined products such as jet fuel and naphtha.

In September 2016, ENOC awarded a contract to Technip regarding the setup of a new condensate processing train to the existing facility. The expansion project is scheduled to be completed by Q4 2019 and is expected to increase the facility's daily production capacity up to 210,000 bbl/d from the current 140,000 bbl/d. The Jebel Ali refinery expansion plays a key role in the UAE's downstream strategy and is part of the group’s five-year strategic plan.
