US oil companies ExxonMobil and Chevron more than doubled their earnings in 2022

ExxonMobil has released its 2022 results, posting full-year earnings of US$55.7bn, compared to US$23bn in 2021. The company spent US$22.7bn in 2022 on investments. ExxonMobil produced 3,737 kboe/d of oil and gas in 2022 (stable compared to 2021) and sold 5,347 kb/d of energy products (+4%). The group’s refining throughput was 4 mb/d in 2022 (+4%).

In addition, Chevron has also published its 2022 results, posting full year earnings of US$35.5bn, compared to US$15.6bn in 2021. The company produced 3 mb/d of oil in 2022 (-3% compared to 2021). International production decreased 7% in 2022 primarily due to the end of concessions in Thailand and Indonesia, while US production increased 4% compared to 2021, mainly in the Permian Basin.
