The US FERC approves Tellurian’s 57 bcm/year gas pipeline project in Louisiana

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved Line 200 and Line 300 of the US$1.4bn Driftwood natural gas transmission pipeline project, currently being developed by the US LNG developer Tellurian in the US state of Louisiana.

The pipelines, which will equipped with electric-powered Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) technology, will have the ability to supply up to 5.5 bcf/d (57 bcm/year) of natural gas. Tellurian expects the project to be operational by the end of 2023 to meet the growing demand for natural gas in south-western Louisiana.

However, Tellurian has not yet taken a final investment decision (FID) on its 27.6 Mt/year Driftwood LNG export terminal, which has witnessed several setbacks in the past years, notably the exit of the British oil and gas company Shell.
