US Energy storage industry pledges US$100bn for grid-connected batteries

The American Clean Power Association (ACP) on behalf of the U.S. energy storage industry has committed to invest US$100bn into building and buying American-made grid-scale batteries by 2030. The investment is planned to include both capital for building new battery manufacturing facilities and procurement of American-made batteries for U.S. energy storage projects. The investment is expected to advance a manufacturing expansion in the United States, create about 350,000 jobs across the sector, and enable domestic batteries to meet the 100% of the domestic demand. So far, the association expects to develop 25 new or expanding manufacturing facilities to support the grid-scale energy storage market in 15 US states. Among the projects planned for development is LG’s factory in Holland (Michigan, US), which is expected to start production in 2025 to produce 16.5 GWh of ESS batteries, with an additional 11 GWh of capacity planned for the beginning of 2026.

The American Clean Power Association (ACP) represents energy storage, wind, utility-scale solar, clean hydrogen, and transmission companies within the US. The group aims to meet the country’s energy and national security goals and building our economy with fast-growing, low-cost, and reliable domestic power.
