The US LNG export project developer Venture Global has received approval from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for an uprate amendment to its Calcasieu Pass LNG project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States). The amendment increases the project's permitted peak liquefaction capacity from 12 to 12.4 Mt/year. According to the DOE, this additional capacity could allow for approximately five more LNG cargoes to be exported each year. Calcasieu Pass, Venture Global’s first LNG facility, began producing LNG in 2022 and entered commercial operation in April 2025.
The company’s second LNG production and export project, Plaquemines LNG, started LNG production in December 2024. Venture Global’s third project, CP2 LNG, received export authorization from the DOE in March 2025 and regulatory approval from FERC in May 2025. In July 2025, the company reached a final investment decision (FID) on its third project, 20 Mt/year CP2 LNG, and closed project financing for Phase 1.
