The US DoE announced new US-China projects to improve energy efficiency

The US Department of Energy (DoE) has announced new Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) pilot projects between Chinese and American companies, which are meant to improve energy efficiency across buildings and industrial facilities' retrofitted systems. Nine 2017 US-China EPC projects have been jointly acknowledged by the DoE and the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) during the 8th annual U.S.-China Energy Efficiency Forum (EEF) and aim at achieving at least 20% energy savings for buildings or 1,000 Mt savings across retrofitted systems in industrial facilities. They will spread across nine Chinese cities and will represent a total investment of US$14.5m.

According to the US DoE, 21 US-China joint EPC projects date back to the program start in 2015, which attracted US$135m of investments. They are expected to save 67,000 tce*/year.
