The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will start an environmental review of the 2 GW Vineyard Mid-Atlantic Offshore Wind project located in the coasts of the states of New York and New Jersey (United States). The project is being developed by Vineyard Offshore, an affiliate of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), in one of the six lease areas within the New York Bight Wind Energy Area. The proposed 2 GW project is planned to count with 117 turbines to generate enough energy to power more than 700,000 homes, and it includes up to two potential export cable corridors.
At the regional level, New York aims to achieve 70% renewable energy generation by 2030 and develop 9 GW of offshore wind by 2035, while New Jersey targets 11 GW of offshore wind by 2040. At the national level, the United States targets 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
