The US approves a 4 GW transmission project and a 700 MW solar project in Nevada

The US government has approved and advanced multiple clean energy projects in Nevada (United States). Two projects received an approval by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), namely the Greenlink West Transmission Project and the Libra Solar Project, which are expected to unlock up to 4.7 GW of clean energy, enough to power nearly 5 million homes. The Greenlink West Transmission Project plans to create a system of new transmission lines and facilities to transmit up to 4 GW of clean energy to power at least 4.8 million homes. The Libra Solar Project is expected to generate and store up to 700 MW of energy, including a solar facility and a battery energy storage system (BESS) to power over 212,000 homes.

The US also opened the environmental and impact statements for the up to 4 GW Greenlink North Transmission Project and the 300 MW Bonanza Solar Project for public comment.

The US aims to decarbonize its electricity grid by 2035.
