The United Kingdom has announced a new round of sanctions targeting Russian assets, including the country’s two largest oil companies, Lukoil and Rosneft, as well as individuals and entities across sectors such as energy and defence.
The sanctions focus on these two Russian oil giants and their global facilitators. Among those affected are four oil terminals in China, 44 tankers from the so-called “shadow fleet” transporting Russian crude oil, and India’s Nayara Energy Limited, which has imported 100 mbl of Russian oil according to the government’s statement. The UK is also imposing sanctions on seven specialised LNG tankers and the Beihai LNG terminal in China. Since September 2025, Beihai has been receiving LNG from Arctic LNG2, a Russian project sanctioned by the UK in February 2024.
This latest package follows an earlier round of sanctions in September 2025, which focused on the maritime transport of Russian oil exports and added 70 vessels to the UK’s list of ships suspected of carrying Russian crude.
