The French-Belgian consortium Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) has submitted its offshore scoping report for its 1 GW Ayre offshore floating wind project, which will be located off the eastern coast of Scotland (United Kingdom). The report provides information on the proposed offshore infrastructure and outlines the approach to the EIA, including baseline data sources. TWP submitted the onshore scoping report for the project in February 2024.
Besides the Ayre project, TWP also has the 1 GW Bowdun Offshore Wind project (fixed-bottom, off the coast of Aberdeenshire in Scotland), which is expected to submit its offshore and onshore scoping reports in 2024. TWP expects to complete the pre-FEED (front-end engineering designs) phase for the two projects by mid-2024, which will be followed by a second round of geophysical and geotechnical studies to inform the FEED for the projects. If consenting is achieved by 2025, the final investment decision (FID) for both the Ayre and Bowdun projects is scheduled for 2028. The company then plans to start construction on the two wind projects by 2029.
