The Scottish renewable energy company Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) has launched seabed surveys for its two ScotWind projects, namely the 1 GW Ayre Offshore Wind project (a floating wind project located off Scotland’s Orkney) and the 1 GW Bowdun Offshore Wind project (fixed-bottom, off the coast of Aberdeenshire) in Scotland (United Kingdom).
TWP expects to complete the pre-FEED (front-end engineering designs) phase for the two projects by mid-2024, which will be followed by a second round of geophysical and geotechnical studies to inform the FEED for the projects.
If consenting is achieved by 2025, the final investment decision (FID) for both the Ayre and Bowdun projects is scheduled for 2028. The company then plans to start construction on the two wind projects by 2029.
