Two offshore wind projects move forward in Sweden

The Swedish project development company Landinfra Energy is investigating the conditions for setting up offshore wind in the Swedish economic zone and Swedish territorial waters. Nine areas along the Swedish coast - namely Falkenberg/Halmstad, Baltic Edge, Öland/Hoburg (three subareas), Slite, Oxelösund, Hudiksvall, and Sundsvall - have been selected to investigate the conditions for offshore wind. They are estimated to have a potential for an installed capacity of 5-8 GW.

In addition, OX2 intends to develop a new offshore wind project named Ran approximately 12 km off Gotland's east coast within Swedish territorial waters. Ran will be developed together with the Pleione project, which is located approximately 35 km off Gotland's east coast in Sweden's economic zone. The two offshore wind power plants are expected to have a combined installed power of approximately 2.8 GW and will be able to generate approximately 13 TWh/year of electricity.
