Trina Solar moves forward with two 800 MW solar deals in Europe and the UAE

The Chinese solar PV manufacturer Trina Solar has signed an agreement with Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, a subsidiary of Aquila Group, for the supply of 800 MW of solar PV modules for Aquila’s portfolio in Southern Europe. The involved projects are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and 2024. Aquila Clean Energy EMEA currently manages a portfolio of around 10.3 GW in Europe, with a focus on wind, solar and battery storage.

In addition, Trina Solar has finalised the delivery of 800 MW of solar panels to the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for installation at the 2 GW Al Dhafra solar PV plant, located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). The Al Dhafra solar plant, situated approximately 35 km from Abu Dhabi city, will comprise about 3.5 million solar panels and will generate enough power to supply 160,000 Emirati households. The project, which was connected to the grid in April 2023, could allow a reduction of emissions amounting to 2.4 MtCO2/year.
