TotalEnergies takes over a 1 GW Aurora floating offshore wind project (UK)

TotalEnergies has acquired 75% or more of the shares in the 1 GW Aurora floating offshore wind project in the Celtic Sea waters of the United Kingdom from Simply Blue Energy. The project; which could take part in the upcoming Crown Estate leasing round, secured a grid connection at Alverdiscott on the North Devon coast effective October 2031 from National Grid earlier in 2022.

In February 2021, Blue Gem Wind, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Energy, submitted an environmental scoping report for the proposed 300 MW Valorous floating offshore wind project.

The joint venture is also developing the 96 MW Erebus demonstration floating offshore wind project, which has already secured a lease; TotalEnergies targets a final investment decision for the Erebus project by 2024. Blue Gem Wind is 80% owned by Total and by 20% by Simply Blue Energy.
