TotalEnergies starts production at Angola's Quiluma offshore gas field

TotalEnergies has announced the start of production from the Quiluma field, the company’s first non-associated natural gas project developed in Angola (TotalEnergies press release, 17/03/2026). The project is expected to produce about 330 mcf/d of gas (9.34 mcm/d or about 3.4 bcm/year). This production should provide a “stable and significant” source of supply for TotalEnergies’ Angola LNG plant, which delivers LNG to the European and Asian markets.

TotalEnergies holds an 11.8% stake in the field, alongside Azule Energy (37.4%, operator), Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (31%) and Sonangol E&P (19.8%). The company has been present in Angola since 1953 and it possesses a diversified portfolio of activities with its deep offshore assets representing more than 45% of the Angola’s oil production

Angola has an important gas potential, with estimated reserves of 55 bcm (end of 2024).
