TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) for the sale of a 50% stake in a portfolio of 11 battery storage (BESS) projects with a total capacity of 789 MW/1,628 MWh (TotalEnergies press release, 03/03/2026). Under this agreement, the partners will deliver an investment of EUR500m in critical energy infrastructure in Germany.
These 11 projects have been developed by Kyon Energy, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies (and acquired by the French company in 2024), and will all be operational by 2028. TotalEnergies will remain the operator of the assets, which include a 147 MW/296 MWh BESS in Husum, a 103 MW/208 MWh BESS in Brilon and a 100 MW/203 MWh BESS in Weingarten.
The completion of the transaction is subject to customary approvals and conditions.
