TotalEnergies restarts production from Denmark’s Tyra gas field (5.7 mcm/d)

The French oil and gas company TotalEnergies has announced the restart of production from the Tyra hub in the Danish North Sea. The Tyra field, one of Denmark's largest gas fields, was temporarily closed in 2019 for a redevelopment that included the installation of 8 new platform topsides after the seabed sunk several metres under Tyra's platforms following more than 30 years of production. The hub is expected to produce 5.7 mcm/d of gas and 22 kb/d of condensate, allowing Denmark to be self-sufficient and a net exporter of natural gas. Prior to its shutdown, the Tyra field served as a processing and export hub for more than 90% of the gas produced from the Danish North Sea.

TotalEnergies is the operator of the Tyra field on behalf of Danish Underground Consortium (DUC), a partnership between TotalEnergies (43.2%), BlueNord (36.8%) and Nordsøfonden (20%). Tyra is located 225 km west of the coast of Esbjerg (southwest Denmark) and the gas it produces is delivered to Europe through two export pipelines to Nybro in Denmark and Den Helder in the Netherlands.
