TotalEnergies and RGE plan a solar project in Indonesia for export to Singapore

Singa Renewables, a 50:50 joint venture of the French oil and gas company TotalEnergies has entered into a co-investment agreement with the Singapore-based group Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) to develop a large-scale solar PV power plant coupled with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Indonesia’s Riau Province.

Simultaneously, the project has been awarded a conditional licence by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) to import 1 GW of electricity from the power plant to Singapore. The project will also supply electricity to local industry in Indonesia.

In addition, partners have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore Energy Interconnections (SGEI) to jointly develop a subsea interconnector, enabling electricity imports from Indonesia to Singapore. The interconnector project will support Singapore's target of importing up to 6 GW of low-carbon electricity by 2035.
