TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with the US renewable project developer Core Solar to acquire the company and its project portfolio in the United States (US), which includes more than 4 GW of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects at various stages of development across several US states. With this acquisition, TotalEnergies will raise its US renewable project portfolio to more than 10 GW (gross capacity in operation, under construction or in development). The group was already developing 2.2 GW of projects initially carried by SunChase Power, and 1.6 GW of projects in partnership with Hanwha Energy. Moreover, the group has started to develop a 3 GW offshore wind project off the coast of New York and New Jersey (project awarded in February 2022 during the New York Bight auction) and plans to develop more than 100 MW per year of new solar distributed generation capacity in the US.
