Total will transfer stakes in Namibia, Guyana and Kenya offshore blocks to Qatar Petroleum

Total has signed several agreements with Qatar's national oil company Qatar Petroleum (QP) to transfer stakes in its exploration acreage in Namibia, Guyana and Kenya, as the two companies are reinforcing their international partnership. These transactions remain subject to approval by the competent authorities.

In Namibia, Total will transfer to Qatar Petroleum a 30% interest in Block 2913B and retain a 40% interest. Total will also transfer to QP 28.33% in Block 2912 and retain 37.78%. The deep-water blocks are situated in the Orange Basin, offshore Namibia and Total plans to drill a first exploration well on Block 2913B in 2020.

In Guyana, Total will transfer QP a 40% stake in the company holding its 25% interests in the Orinduik and Kanuku blocks, adjacent to the Stabroek Block in the offshore Guyana Basin. Total will retain the remaining 60% of this company and will continue to explore these resources: a second exploration well will soon be drilled on the Orinduik license and a third one (Carapa-1) is planned on the Kanuku license for later in 2019 .

In Kenya, Total and Eni will transfer a combined 25% interest in Blocks L11A, L11B and L12 located in Kenya’s deep offshore to Qatar Petroleum. Total’s interest will thus be cut from 45% to 33.75%. Total plans to drill an exploration well for Block L11B in 2020.

Total and Qatar Petroleum are strengthening their cooperation. QP acquired 15% of Total E&P Congo in 2013 and a 25% working interest in its 11B/12B license in South Africa in 2018.
