Total starts production at the Egina oil field in Nigeria

Total Upstream Nigeria Limited, operator of the OML 130 block, and its co-venturers, have started production of the Egina oil field in Nigeria. Plateau output is estimated at 200,000 bbl/d, i.e. 10% of Nigeria's current oil production level.

Total has a 24% interest in the OML 130 licence, in partnership with NNPC SAPETRO (South Atlantic Petroleum) (15%), CNOOC (45%) and Petrobras (16%). The field, discovered in 2003, is the second development of the OML 130 license following Akpo, which was brought on stream in 2009. The OML 130 block also includes the Preowei field, for which an investment decision is scheduled for 2019.

Total also operates the OML 99 (40%), the OML 100 (40%), the OML 102 (40%), and the OML 58 (40%) in joint venture with NNPC. Total also holds a 15% stake in the Nigeria LNG company, which operates LNG liquefaction trains in Bonny Island (total liquefaction capacity of 22 Mt/year).
