Total signs 20-year LNG agreement with Kogas (South Korea)

Total Gas & Power has signed a long term contract with Kogas (South Korea) on the delivery of 0.7 Mt/year (945 mcm/year) of LNG from the Sabine Pass export terminal in Louisiana (USA) over a 20 year period. LNG will be delivered following the commissioning of Sabine Pass terminal’s liquefaction train 3, developed and owned by Cheniere Energy Partner and scheduled for commissioning in 2017.

Total succeeds in consolidating its positions in the United States where the LNG export market is emerging and in South Korea, the world's largest LNG importer.

Total is carrying out activities at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal under a terminal use agreement (regasification rights). The company has signed an agreement with Cheniere Energy Partners whereby Sabine Liquefaction would progressively gain access to Total's send-out capacity and other services provided under its terminal use agreement. These agreements will provide Sabine Liquefaction with additional berthing and storage capacity at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal that may be used to accommodate the development of a fifth liquefaction train, provide increased flexibility in managing LNG cargo loading and unloading activity starting with the commencement of commercial operations of the third liquefaction train, and permit Sabine Liquefaction to more flexibly manage its storage with the commencement of the first liquefaction train.
