Total sells Shetland gas fields to SSE for €800m (United Kingdom)

Total has reached an agreement with SSE E&P UK for the sale of 20% of its interests in the Laggan, Tormore, Edradour and Glenlivet gas fields, located in the West of Shetland area in the United Kingdom. Total started the development of the Laggan and Tormore fields in 2010 and gas production is due to start in the coming months, with gas sent to the new onshore Shetland gas plant, with a peak production rate of 500 mcf/d (14 mcm/d or 5.15 bcm/year); the sale also includes 20% of Total’s stake in the Shetland gas plant and interests in several exploration licenses located in the West of Shetland area, including the Tobermory discovery. The development of the Edradour and Glenlivet fields was launched in 2014 and the fields are expected to start gas production in 2017 and 2018, respectively. With this sale, Total will reduce its stake in the Laggan, Tormore, Edradour and Glenlivet fields from 80% to 60%, alongside partners DONG E&P (20%) and SSE E&P UK (20%).
