Tokyo Gas plans gas infrastructure development in Ibaraki (Japan)

Tokyo Gas has decided to promote installation and expansion of the natural gas infrastructure in Ibaraki Prefecture, where higher expectation is placed toward an industry and energy concentrated prefecture in the metropolitan area.

The group plans to build a new gas pipeline to supply the Mito area, to improve the supply stability in both Mito area of Tobu Gas and Joso branch service area of Tokyo Gas; new gas pipelines would also be built between Koga (Ibaraki) and Moka (Tochigi) by 2017 and between Hitachi and Kashima (in the long term).

Based on an agreement signed with the prefecture in December 2009, Tokyo Gas has already started construction work respectively for the Hitachi LNG Terminal in July 2012, and for the Ibaraki - Tochigi Line, which will connect the Terminal with the existing pipeline in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture, with the overall commencement target of 2015.
