Tilt Renewables secures PPA for 130 MW wind project in New Zealand

Tilt Renewables has signed a 20-year power offtake agreement with power company Genesis for its 130 MW Waverley wind project in South Taranaki, in New Zealand. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will pave the way for Tilt Energy to take the final investment decision (FID) on the project - it secured a resource consent in July 2017 - and to start construction within 6 to 9 months (i.e. between November 2019 and February 2020). The wind project is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2021 and to generate around 450 GWh/year of electricity.

Tilt Renewables owns and operates eight wind parks in Australia and New Zealand with a combined capacity of 636 MW. In addition, the group has an additional 336 MW under construction along with a significant pipeline of over 3 GW of wind and solar projects in Australia and New Zealand, of which more than 2.5 GW have already secured the required planning consents.
