Three gas TSOs will acquire stakes in the EUGAL pipeline from Gascade (Germany)

The German gas transmission system operators Fluxys Deutschland GmbH, Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH and Ontras Gastransport GmbH have inked a deal with Gascade Gastransport GmbH for development of the European Gas Pipeline Link (Europäische Gas-Anbindungsleitung, EUGAL) project. Fluxys, Ontras and Gasunie will each receive 16.5% of the shares in the project while Gascade will retain the 50.5% remaining interest. Besides, Gascade remains the operator and will continue to manage the construction.

The 51 bcm/y EUGAL project will spread over 485 km and is expected to run from the Baltic Sea through Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany) and Brandenburg to Adelsdorf (southern Saxony) till the Czech border. The construction will start in 2018 and the project is scheduled for commissioning at the end of 2019. It consists of two parallel strings, the first one (329 km) extending from the Baltic Sea tills Adelsdorf while the second one (485 km) is scheduled to spread over the whole layout.
